US Launches ‘Trump Gold Visa’ Offering Direct Citizenship Path
Donald Trump
The Trump administration has introduced a new visa program called the ‘Trump Gold Visa’ aimed at wealthy individuals interested in obtaining US citizenship. On Tuesday, President Donald Trump first announced the program on his social media platform, Truth Social, and later confirmed the details during a briefing with journalists.
In his social media post, Trump said, “Great news for qualified and verified interested individuals! The Trump Gold Visa is now live. This visa will serve as a direct pathway to US citizenship. Our great American companies will be able to retain their talented workforce.”
According to US officials, interested applicants must first visit the website trumpcard.gov. By clicking the ‘Apply Now’ button, applicants can access the application form. Submitting the form requires a processing fee of $15,000 (approximately BDT 18,21,964), payable to the US Department of Homeland Security.
After verification of the application, approved applicants will be notified and required to pay a “contribution” of $1 million (approximately BDT 12,14,64,300) for the visa. The website refers to this payment as a “gift.”
The Trump Gold Visa will carry the same privileges as a green card. Visa holders will be allowed to live and work permanently in the United States, similar to green card holders.
During a briefing at the White House, Trump described the visa as “essentially a type of green card, but much stronger and an ideal pathway to citizenship compared to conventional green cards.” MIB/Source: BBC
