Air India will begin non-stop flights between Delhi and Osaka’s Kansai International Airport on February 2, 2027, the airline said in a press release on October 15. It said it will be the only airline operating the route non-stop.

The airline will fly four times a week using Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Each has 18 full-flat beds in Business Class and 241 seats in Economy Class, according to the release.

Osaka will become Air India’s second destination in Japan after Tokyo’s Haneda airport. The airline currently flies to Haneda daily from Delhi and four times a week from Mumbai.

Flight AI360 will leave Delhi at 10:50pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and arrive in Osaka at 9:50am the next day. Return flight AI359 will leave Osaka at 11:50am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and arrive in Delhi at 6:20pm the same day. All times are local.

Air India said the new route lets passengers book open-jaw itineraries, flying into Osaka and returning from Tokyo, or the other way around. It said this suits multi-city trips along Japan’s “Golden Route” of Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, which is increasingly popular with Indian visitors.

The airline said the flights are being made available for booking progressively through its website, mobile app, contact centre, airport ticketing offices and travel agents worldwide.

Air India cited figures from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) showing that more than 315,000 Indian visitors travelled to Japan in 2025. That was 35 per cent more than in 2024 and nearly 80 per cent above pre-pandemic levels. The airline said Japan’s leisure, cultural and culinary appeal and growing business and people-to-people ties are driving the growth.
