The Bangladesh embassy in Kathmandu on Sunday urged Bangladeshi tourists and trekkers to exercise caution in areas of Nepal hit by heavy rain, floods, and landslides, and to refrain from travelling there until the weather and overall situation improve.

In a statement, the embassy said extra care was needed in Pisang, Chame, Manang, and nearby tourist areas in the Annapurna region. Continuous rain, landslides, and snowfall have disrupted road connections in many places, while the difficult terrain and broken communications have made rescue operations harder, it said.

Authorities have already suspended trekking in several parts of Manang district, including Tilicho Lake, Thorong La Pass, Ice Lake, Kangla, and Bhimthang, the embassy said.

It also urged caution in travelling to Pokhara and surrounding areas, where landslides have disrupted roads and access to nearby trekking destinations. Those planning to visit Mustang, Jomsom, and other mountainous areas should first check road conditions in Gandaki province, as routes there could be cut off at short notice, it said.

The embassy advised Bangladeshi nationals to verify all information before planning trekking, mountaineering, or travel in the Annapurna, Manang, Mustang, and Manaslu regions, and other hilly and landslide-prone areas. It also asked them to follow instructions issued by the Nepali government and local authorities.

Bangladeshis already in vulnerable areas were advised to stay in safe places and avoid riverbanks and zones at risk of landslides. They were also asked to check road and weather conditions before travelling and to stay in regular contact with their travel operators and the embassy.

The embassy said it is monitoring the situation and is in touch with Nepali authorities. It said it would issue further updates as needed.
