The Bangladesh High Commission in the Maldives held its Annual Public Hearing 2025 and an exchange of views on the postal voting system on Tuesday, bringing together officials and members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Malé.

Bangladesh High Commissioner Dr Md Nazmul Islam attended the meeting as the chief guest, the High Commission said.

At the start of the session, Consular Assistant Ebad Ullah presented an overview of the Consular Wing’s activities for 2025. Invited expatriates then raised various consular-related issues and queries.

Welfare Assistant Al Mamun Pathan followed up with a presentation, outlining the key activities of the Labour Wing for 2025. Expatriates subsequently shared their views and questions related to labour and welfare services.

Counsellor Md Sohel Parvez addressed all the questions raised during the meeting and provided a detailed explanation of the postal voting system.

In his closing remarks, High Commissioner Dr Nazmul Islam reaffirmed the mission’s commitment to providing all necessary support to Bangladeshi expatriates in the Maldives.

He urged community members to make proper use of the ongoing regularisation process for expatriates and stressed the importance of complying with Maldivian laws and regulations, of avoiding travelling to the Maldives on so-called “free visas,” and of verifying all information before arriving in the country.

The High Commissioner also advised expatriates to follow proper procedures when using the postal voting system.

The meeting concluded in a lively and festive atmosphere, with participants describing the exchange as successful and constructive.
