The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has issued new prices for aviation fuel (jet fuel) for the month of March. These revised rates apply to both domestic and international flights.
The fuel cost for domestic flights has been established at Tk 112.41 per liter, which includes duty and value-added tax (VAT), as per an order issued by the commission.
On the other hand, the price for international flights operated by domestic and foreign airlines has been fixed at 73 cents per liter, excluding duty and VAT.
The regulatory authority said the new pricing will take effect from 12:00 midnight Sunday following the issuance of an official notification.
The revised rates were determined after reviewing proposals submitted by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Padma Oil Company Limited.
Before finalizing the new prices, the commission conducted a thorough review and analysis process that included a public hearing.
According to BERC, the decision was made in accordance with sections 34 (4) and 34 (6) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003.
The notification specifies that the jet fuel prices were determined by utilizing the average fuel price published in the country between February 5 and March 4, in line with Clause 9.2 of BERC Order No. 2025/08 issued on May 13 last year.
The commission acknowledged that the pricing mechanism is designed to preserve stability in the aviation sector while also ensuring transparency and accordance with international fuel price trends.
