The mortal remains of 34 Bangladeshi migrant workers who died abroad arrived home on Saturday on separate flights from Kuwait, Malaysia, and Libya.
The bodies had been stranded in the respective countries for an extended period due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment said in a press statement.
The ministry confirmed that all 34 deaths were natural in cause.
30 from Kuwait and 2 each from Malaysia and Libya—remaining held back by regional conflict—arrive on separate flights.
Upon handover of the bodies at the airport, the Wage Earners' Welfare Board under the ministry disbursed Tk 35,000 to each bereaved family to cover funeral and transportation expenses.
The ministry further stated that families entitled to insurance benefits or any other financial assistance would receive such dues at the earliest possible time.
Senior officials of the ministry and representatives of the Wage Earners' Welfare Board were present at the airport during the handover of the remains to the next of kin.
