Kuwait International Airport was struck by a drone attack on Wednesday, March 24, 2026, igniting a fuel tank and highlighting escalating regional tensions as West Asia war entered its 26th day.

Abdullah Al-Rajhi, spokesperson for Kuwait's Civil Aviation Authority, confirmed preliminary assessments showed only limited property damage with no casualties reported. Emergency procedures were activated immediately with firefighting teams responding swiftly to control the blaze.

Attack marks the fourth assault on Kuwait's primary aviation hub since late February. Previous incidents on March 14 targeted radar systems with several drones, while March 8 strike hit fuel tanks. Earlier assault on a passenger terminal left several people mildly wounded with minor damage.

Kuwaiti Army addressed public concerns following latest attack, stating: "The Kuwaiti air defenses are currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks." General Staff clarified that explosion sounds heard were from air defense systems intercepting hostile threats. Authorities urged residents to follow security and safety instructions from competent authorities.

Repeated targeting demonstrates deliberate pattern aimed at disrupting key transit and logistics hubs in Gulf region. Strategic vulnerability of critical infrastructure has grown as conflict expands beyond traditional battle zones, increasingly focusing on civilian and strategic sites.

West Asia war continues intensifying with multiple flashpoints across Iran, Israel and Lebanon. Israel has ramped up attacks on Iranian missile infrastructure while diplomatic manoeuvring accelerates alongside military escalation.

United States is pursuing dual-track strategy, preparing troop deployments from 82nd Airborne Division while pushing 15-point peace proposal to Iran through Pakistani intermediaries. Proposal addresses nuclear issues, missile programmes and maritime security concerns.

Regional divisions deepen as Lebanon expelled Iranian ambassador-designate Mohammad Reza Shibani, declaring him persona non grata with March 29 departure deadline.
