The Emirates Group said Wednesday it has been awarded the Platinum Impact Seal for 2025-2027 by the UAE National CSR Fund, Majra, marking the second consecutive time the aviation and travel group has received the country's highest federal recognition for sustainable business impact.

In a press release, Emirates said the award was presented to the group's Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer, Adel Al Redha, by UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism and Majra Board Chairman Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Platinum Impact Seal is awarded to organisations that demonstrate measurable performance in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices following an assessment of corporate social responsibility initiatives, sustainability programmes, governance standards, and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the UAE's national priorities.

"The Emirates Group is proud to be recognised with the Platinum Impact Seal for the second consecutive cycle, and this award reaffirms and demonstrates our continued commitment to advancing sustainability and introducing innovative practices across our businesses," Al Redha said in the statement.

He added that the group would continue focusing on practical environmental initiatives, community support, sound governance, and partnerships aimed at addressing aviation's environmental challenges in line with the UAE's sustainability priorities.

Emirates highlighted a range of environmental initiatives implemented across its airline, engineering, and ground-handling businesses over the past year. These included fuel-efficiency programmes that saved more than 98,000 tonnes of fuel and reduced carbon emissions by over 312,000 tonnes during the 2024-25 financial year.

The airline also said it procured more than 28,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in 2025-26, helping cut emissions by more than 93,000 tonnes and signing an agreement with ENOC Group to expand SAF supply at its Dubai hub.

Other projects included recycling and upcycling materials from Emirates' aircraft retrofit programme into luggage and school bags, expanding onboard plastic recycling, installing nearly 40,000 solar panels at the Emirates Engineering Centre, and commissioning a biodigester at Emirates Flight Catering to process organic waste.

Dnata, the ground services provider that is part of the Emirates Group, continued replacing diesel-powered ground equipment with electric and hybrid alternatives. The company said more than 17% of its global ground support fleet is now electrified, while its consumption of alternative fuels increased by 89% year-on-year during the 2025-26 financial year.

According to Emirates, renewable energy accounted for 15% of dnata's total energy consumption during the same period, while nearly half of the waste generated across its global operations was diverted from disposal through recycling and reuse initiatives.

The award ceremony also marked the launch of the UAE Companies for Good 2031 Strategy, a national framework aimed at increasing private sector contributions to the country's environmental, social, and sustainability objectives. Emirates said it intends to continue expanding its sustainability initiatives as part of its long-term environmental strategy.
