Emirates SkyCargo launches first Central Asia freighter service to Kazakhstan

Emirates SkyCargo will launch dedicated weekly freighter flights to Almaty, Kazakhstan, from June 16, marking the cargo carrier's first destination in Central Asia and expanding its network into a region experiencing growing trade and economic activity, the company said on Wednesday.

The freight division of Dubai-based Emirates announced that its Boeing 777F freighter aircraft will operate a weekly service every Tuesday between Dubai and Almaty International Airport, providing more than 100 tonnes of cargo capacity each week.

According to the airline, the new route is expected to facilitate the movement of key commodities, including electronics, perishable goods, machinery, and consumer products, between Kazakhstan and global markets through Dubai, one of the world's leading logistics hubs.

Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city, has emerged as an important commercial and logistics centre serving Central Asia. Emirates SkyCargo said the new service would help establish a trade corridor linking the region to its global network.

"Emirates SkyCargo's weekly freighter service to Almaty is in line with our role as a global trade facilitator and is an important step in expanding our network and connectivity to Central Asia, a region that is experiencing dynamic growth," said Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo.

"Our flights will provide new opportunities for businesses in Almaty and the surrounding region to scale their international operations while allowing our global customers convenient and rapid wide-body cargo connectivity to a strategic marketplace," he added.

The expansion comes as Emirates SkyCargo continues to increase its freighter fleet and cargo operations in response to rising global demand. The carrier said it has received four new Boeing 777 freighters since March 2026 and expects six additional aircraft by the end of the year.

Once the planned deliveries are completed, Emirates SkyCargo's dedicated freighter fleet will reach 21 aircraft by December 2026, strengthening its capacity to serve global supply chains.

In addition to its freighter operations, the carrier also transports cargo in the bellyhold compartments of Emirates passenger aircraft operating across six continents, providing additional capacity and flexibility for customers.

The airline said customers seeking cargo services on the new route can contact local Emirates SkyCargo offices or visit its website for further information on schedules and available services.
