Expatriates' welfare minister off to Malaysia today for labour talks

Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury is set to leave Dhaka for Malaysia today to advance talks on the Southeast Asian country's labour market, ministry sources said on Sunday.

The minister will be accompanied by Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin, with the pair scheduled to depart Dhaka at around 9:00 pm today, the sources added.

This will mark the minister's third visit to Malaysia as part of ongoing efforts to move forward discussions on the recruitment and employment of Bangladeshi workers in the Malaysian labour market.

A four-member delegation, including the minister and the adviser, is expected to take part in the visit, a ministry source said.

Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Md Mokhtar Ahmed may also be in Malaysia during the visit, another source said.

The ministry has not yet issued an official announcement regarding the trip, though multiple sources have confirmed the scheduled visit.
