In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan, the High Commission of Malaysia in  Dhaka, in collaboration with Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan, proudly presents the  “Flavours of Malaysia: Ramadhan Buffet” from 26 February to 6 March 2026.

The  event was officially launched by the His Excellency Mohd Shuhada Othman, High  Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh together with the  Karthi VK General  Manager of Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan, marking a meaningful partnership to  showcase Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage during the blessed month of Ramadhan.

This exclusive culinary showcase celebrates the richness and diversity of Malaysia’s  gastronomic heritage, offering guests in Dhaka a truly distinctive and memorable iftar  experience. The buffet will present a carefully curated selection of authentic Malaysian  dishes, prepared in collaboration with two distinguished Malaysian chefs specially  flown in from Malaysia. The menu reflects Malaysia’s harmonious blend of Malay,  Chinese, Indian, and indigenous culinary traditions—an embodiment of the country’s  multicultural identity.

Leading the culinary team from Malaysia is Professor Dr. Shahrim A. Karim,  Professor of Malaysian Heritage Food and Culture at Universiti Putra Malaysia, and a  nationally and internationally recognised authority on traditional Malaysian cuisine. He  has dedicated his career to the preservation, documentation, and promotion of  Malaysia’s culinary heritage, authoring over 100 academic articles and five books. His  work places particular emphasis on traditional gastronomy and the region’s rich  biodiversity of indigenous herbs and spices.

Joining him is Chef Dzulkifli Bin Abdul, a highly experienced culinary professional  with more than three decades in the hospitality industry. Known as a “Food Engineer,”  he specialises in recipe development and operational excellence, having held senior  roles in leading five-star hotels across Malaysia and the region.

He currently serves as Research & Development and Operations Chef at Hajris Food Industry Sdn Bhd,  where he continues to uphold quality and authenticity in Malaysian cuisine.

Together, their expertise ensures that “Flavours of Malaysia: Ramadhan Buffet” will  deliver not only an exceptional dining experience but also an authentic representation  of Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage.

In addition, the initiative also supports Visit Malaysia Year 2026, highlighting  Malaysia’s culinary heritage as a gateway to its diverse tourism experiences. In line  with this campaign, Malaysia is expected to welcome 300,000 tourists from  Bangladesh, inviting visitors to explore its vibrant cities, pristine islands, lush  rainforests, and rich multicultural traditions across destinations such as Kuala Lumpur,  Sabah, and Sarawak.

Through this collaboration, the High Commission of Malaysia in Dhaka and Crowne  Plaza Dhaka Gulshan reaffirm their shared commitment to fostering closer people-to people connections and cultural exchange between the two nations.

Members of the public, diplomatic community, corporate partners, and media  representatives are warmly invited to experience the flavours, warmth, and hospitality  of Malaysia this Ramadhan.

And not to forget, Guests will also stand a chance to win exciting prizes, including raffle  draw tickets for the Dhaka–Kuala Lumpur–Dhaka route, generously sponsored by our  partners Batik Air, AirAsia (TAS Group), and Malaysia Airlines.
