Dubai-based carrier flydubai has resumed direct flights between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD), restarting the route from July 31 with plans to expand to daily service by late October, the airline said in a statement.

The relaunch reinstates non-stop connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and Hungary, giving passengers access to Dubai's and flydubai's wider network of more than 120 destinations. The airline first launched flights to the Hungarian capital in 2021 and has cited steady commercial growth on the route since then.

From July 31, flydubai will operate three weekly flights—on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—out of Terminal 3 at Dubai International. Frequency will increase to a daily service from October 25, 2026, coinciding with the start of the autumn-winter travel season.

Flight FZ 1405 will depart Dubai at 16:45 and arrive in Budapest at 21:40 local time, while the return flight, FZ 1406, will depart Budapest at 22:40 and land in Dubai at 07:05 the next day, according to the schedule released by the airline.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, chief executive officer of flydubai, said the move reflected the carrier's long-term commitment to Hungary. "The resumption of our Budapest service reaffirms our long-term investment in Hungary and reflects the strong economic and cultural ties between our two nations," he said, adding that Budapest remains one of the airline's most strategic European markets.

Jeyhun Efendi, divisional senior vice president of commercial operations and e-commerce at flydubai, said the route would create new opportunities for trade partners and travellers ahead of the peak autumn-winter season. He noted that the service operates under flydubai's codeshare agreement with Emirates, allowing passengers to book through connections across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Southeast Asia on a single ticket with through-checked baggage.

The Budapest route follows flydubai's recent launches to Aleppo in Syria, Bangkok in Thailand, and Benghazi in Libya. The carrier is also set to add Pokhara, Nepal, to its network from September 23.

Return fares from Dubai start at 15,585 UAE dirhams (about $4,244) in Business Class and 2,987 dirhams (about $813) in Economy, according to the airline. From Budapest, return Business Class fares start at 802,400 Hungarian forints, while Economy fares start at 182,900 forints.

Flights are available for booking through flydubai.com, the airline's mobile app, its UAE contact centre, flydubai travel shops, and through travel partners, the statement said.

Founded in 2009, flydubai operates a single-type fleet of 97 Boeing 737 aircraft and has carried well over 137 million passengers to date, serving a network of over 120 destinations across 58 countries, according to the airline.
