Greece has revoked the residence permit of a Bangladeshi national and initiated deportation proceedings against him after he posted a TikTok video urging undocumented migrants to travel to the city of Nafplio, claiming authorities were not monitoring them.

Greek Minister of Migration and Asylum Thanos Plevris announced the action, saying the Hellenic Police identified the individual and filed charges against him following the circulation of the video on social media.

The minister said such content spreads misinformation and that human trafficking networks routinely exploit it to lure migrants into the European Union illegally.

According to Plevris, even legally residing foreign nationals may face deportation if their actions are deemed detrimental to public order under the country's updated Immigration Code.

The case is part of a broader crackdown by the Greek government on irregular migration, with the Ministry of Migration and Asylum reiterating that facilitating illegal entry into the country will not go unpunished.
