Lufthansa 787 jet suffers front-wheel collapse at Frankfurt gate

A Boeing 787 jetliner operated by ​Lufthansa experienced a nose-wheel collapse ‌at Frankfurt airport's apron early Thursday afternoon, an airport ​spokesperson said, adding details ​of the incident were ⁠still being assessed.


Lufthansa confirmed ​the incident. It did not ​give further details, Reuters reported.


The spokesperson of Fraport, which operates Germany's largest hub, ​said the incident ​occurred at the apron at around ‌12:45 ⁠p.m. (1045 GMT).


Details were being investigated, including whether anyone was injured, she added.


Bloomberg News ​reported ​there were ⁠no passengers aboard at the time.


The ​787 model, a two-engined ​widebody ⁠airplane used by Lufthansa mainly on long-haul routes, ⁠is ​a relatively new ​addition to the carrier's fleet.
