Pakistan has extended its ban on Indian aircraft using its airspace for an additional month, pushing the restriction through January 23, 2026, authorities confirmed on Wednesday. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) announced that the earlier deadline of December 24 has been revised, with the restrictions remaining in force under a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM).

Under the continued ban, all Indian-registered aircraft, including planes owned, operated, or leased by Indian airlines, as well as Indian military flights, are prohibited from entering Pakistani airspace.

The closure, which applies to both of Pakistan’s Flight Information Regions (FIRs)—Karachi (OPKR) and Lahore (OPLR)—has been in place since April, following the deadly Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.

The attack triggered a sharp escalation in tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, culminating in a four-day military confrontation in May. Since then, Islamabad has repeatedly renewed the overflight ban on Indian carriers.

India has responded with a reciprocal restriction, barring Pakistani aircraft from its own airspace.

Pakistan’s airspace structure, divided between the Karachi and Lahore FIRs, remains fully closed to Indian aviation traffic for the duration specified in the latest NOTAM, according to aviation officials.
