Saudi Arabia has announced temporary visa relief measures for visitors stranded due to ongoing Middle East conflict, allowing fine-free departures or extensions until April 18.
Ministry of Interior confirmed the decision applies to holders of visit visas, Umrah visas, transit visas and final exit permits that expired around late February 2026. Move addresses travel difficulties caused by US-Israel war with Iran.
Affected individuals have two options under new directives. First option allows visa extension upon sponsor’s request until April 18, with required fees paid through Absher platform. This enables visitors to regularise their stay for limited period.
Second option permits direct exit through international departure points without visa renewal, fees or overstay penalties. Ministry clarified this arrangement covers visas expired on February 25-26.
Authorities urged eligible visa holders to utilise grace period and complete departure before April 18 deadline. Failure to comply could result in penalties under Saudi regulations.
Decision was implemented under Saudi leadership directives to facilitate procedures for visitors and residents affected by regional conditions. Officials stated move aims to maintain smooth travel operations across international entry and exit points while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Measure brings relief to thousands of Bangladeshi Umrah pilgrims and tourists currently in Saudi Arabia who faced uncertainty due to conflict-related flight disruptions. Many visitors were unable to depart Kingdom as planned when visas expired in late February.
Ministry emphasised importance of beneficiaries departing before April 18 to avoid legal procedures. Extension applications must be processed electronically through Absher platform with prescribed fees paid by sponsors.
