The Embassies of the Schengen States in Dhaka on Monday cautioned visa holders against overstaying in Schengen countries, warning that violations could result in entry bans and future visa rejections.

In a joint notice circulated on their verified Facebook pages, the embassies urged travelers to strictly comply with the validity and conditions of their visas to avoid penalties.

“Staying in a Schengen country beyond the validity of your visa puts you at risk of an entry ban,” the notice said, adding that failure to follow visa rules may affect future travel applications to Schengen member states.

The Schengen Area, which comprises 27 European countries with a common visa policy, allows short-term travel across member states under a unified visa framework.
