Sri Lanka recorded a total of 1,642,215 tourist arrivals between January 1 and September 20, 2026, according to the latest data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

During the first 20 days of September alone, 107,093 tourists arrived in the country.

Indian tourists accounted for 30 percent of total arrivals in September, with 32,536 visitors, and recorded the highest number of arrivals from a single country during the period. Meanwhile, 7,906 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom and 7,393 from Australia between September 1 and 20.

India also remained Sri Lanka's largest source market for the year so far, with 418,019 tourist arrivals recorded between January and September 20. The United Kingdom ranked second, with 157,895 visitors during the same period.
