Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBN) personnel have detained three men with gold ornaments near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, police said in a statement issued Friday.

The detainees were identified as Md Nasir Molla, 40, Sohag Sheikh, 24, and Md Hasan Mia, 23.

According to the APBN statement, the trio was picked up from a footpath on the northern side of the airport roundabout late Thursday night.

A search of the suspects recovered 861.8 grams of gold ornaments, made of 21- and 22 carat gold, with an estimated market value of Tk 13,686,160 (around $1.11 million), the statement said.

A case has been filed against the three at Airport Police Station, according to the statement.
