Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat has thanked stakeholders and people from across the country for their participation and cooperation in programmes marking World Tourism Day 2026.

World Tourism Day was observed across Bangladesh on Sunday under the theme “Tourism for Tomorrow through Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence”, with rallies, discussions, cultural programmes and other events held in Dhaka, different districts and tourist destinations.

In Dhaka, programmes included a colourful rally, a cycle procession and guided city tours for disadvantaged children. Similar programmes were organised in different parts of the country with participation from local tourism stakeholders and communities.

Members of parliament, district administrations, government and private organisations, tourism businesses and associations, local communities, media workers and volunteers took part in the programmes, according to a statement issued by the ministry.

In a message, Millat said coordinated efforts by the government, private sector, local communities and other tourism stakeholders were important to harness Bangladesh’s tourism potential.

He called for collective efforts to ensure the effective use of technology and artificial intelligence to make the country’s tourism sector more modern, safe, sustainable and people-friendly.

The minister thanked members of parliament, district administrations, Tourist Police, Bangladesh Tourism Board, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, local government representatives, law enforcement agencies, tourism-sector stakeholders, professional organisations, entrepreneurs, media workers, volunteers and the public for their support and participation in the World Tourism Day programmes.
