US Embassy Dhaka: Apply for visa in country of residence

On Sunday, the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka advised applicants for American visas to schedule their interview appointments at the embassy or consulate in their country of nationality or residence.
The Embassy cautioned that applying elsewhere could decrease the likelihood of approval for a visa.
In a bilingual notice posted on its official Facebook page, the embassy said fees paid for such out-of-country applications would not be refunded if the applicant is later found ineligible or ill-suited to apply from that location.
The advisory reiterates a longstanding requirement of the U.S. Department of State's nonimmigrant visa process, applicable worldwide, and directs applicants to travel.state.gov for further details on visa procedures.
The embassy periodically reminds the public of scheduling rules to avoid processing delays and financial loss.
