3-day Hill Fruit Fair to held at capitalâs Bailey Road

A vibrant three-day "Hill Fruit Fair-26" will be held from June 27 to June 29 at the premises of the Parbatya Chattogram Complex in the capital's Bailey Road area.
According to a press release form the Information Ministry, the fair is being organised by the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs under the theme of "The Aroma of Hill Fruits, the Spirit of Diversity".
The event will be formally inaugurated at 10am on June 27 by State Minister for Land and CHT Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin, who will attend the function as the chief guest.
The opening ceremony will be chaired by Secretary to the CHT Affairs Ministry Mohammad Mizanur Rahman.
Lawmakers from the CHT-- Dipen Dewan, Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan, Saching Pru and reserve seat lawmaker Madhabi Marma-- will join the function as special guests.
The fair will remain open for the visitors daily from 10 am to 8:30pm.
A total of 30 stalls from the three hill districts-- Bandarban, Khagrachhari and Rangamati-- will showcase a wide variety of seasonal and exotic hill fruits.
Visitors will be able to enjoy fresh, chemical-free fruits such as mangoes, pineapples, jackfruits and bananas, as well as rare varieties including blood fruit (Rosco), rambutan and wild bael.
The fair will also provide an opportunity to learn about the lifestyle of hill communities, traditional handicrafts and handloom products.
Traditional cultural performances by indigenous artists from the three hill districts will be held every evening during the fair.
Authorities have already taken all necessary administrative measures to ensure smooth management of the event and the safety of the visitors, the press release mentioned.
