4 more flights cancelled at Chattogram Airport

International flight operations from Shah Amanat International Airport (Chattogram airport) faced further disruption today as four more services were cancelled. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has forced the closure of key airports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Doha.

Airport sources confirmed that two arrival flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from the Middle East scheduled for Thursday morning were called off. Additionally, two inbound flights of Air Arabia from the region were also cancelled. The latest cancellations bring the total number of international flights suspended from the airport to 50 since February 28.

Meanwhile, a Salam Air flight from Muscat was unable to land directly in Chattogram due to dense fog. The aircraft was diverted to Dhaka, from where it later departed and finally touched down at Shah Amanat International at 10:55 am. The same plane is scheduled to depart for Muscat with passengers later today.

Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, Public Relations Officer at the airport, aid that the conflict in the Middle East continues to significantly impact air travel. “The situation has led to the closure of several major airports in the region, directly affecting our flight schedules”, he said. Authorities are monitoring the evolving situation closely.
