6,175 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims return home


A total of 6,175 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia as of Sunday, following the completion of this year's Hajj on June 26.


"A total of 15 return flights were operated by three designated carriers—one by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, one by Saudia Airlines, and two by Flynas Airlines," BSS reports. 


The Hajj office said so far, 416 Hajis returned under government management, while 5,759 under private travel agency arrangements in 15 flights—three by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, four by Saudia Airlines, and eight by Flynas Airlines.


At least 37 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died while at Hajj in Saudi Arabia, including 24 men and 13 women. Of them 27 died in Makkah and 10 in Medina. 


There have been no deaths reported at Jeddah, Mina or Muzdalifah.


This year's Hajj operations began with the first outbound flight on April 18 and concluded on May 21.


The return Hajj flights started on May 30 and will continue until June 30.
