Air India launches shopping platform for loyalty members

Air India’s loyalty programme, Maharaja Club, has launched an online marketplace called The Maharaja Shop, where members can earn Maharaja Points on eligible purchases from Indian and international brands, the airline said on Thursday.

According to Air India, members can earn points on categories including electronics, luggage, travel accessories, fragrances, home essentials, wellness, watches and jewellery. Points can be redeemed for award flights and cabin upgrades on Air India, and members get free shipping on eligible orders. The release did not name the brands or say how many points members earn per purchase.

The platform also sells an exclusive range of Air India merchandise, including Maharaja magnets and collectibles, aircraft-inspired keychains, lapel pins, postcard sets, coaster sets and travel items, the airline said.

Sunil Suresh, Head of Loyalty, E-Commerce and Marketing at Air India, said Maharaja Club is “evolving into a comprehensive lifestyle loyalty programme”. He said the shop is a natural extension of that approach, giving members another way to earn points through everyday spending and making it easier to earn them more often.

Air India said members can earn points with Air India, Air India Express and more than 100 partners across airlines, hospitality, retail, lifestyle and financial services, and can redeem them on Air India, Air India Express and 25 Star Alliance airlines. Members also get tier privileges worldwide and access to more than 1,100 lounges, it said.

The shop is open only to Maharaja Club members. Non-members can join the programme to earn points on their purchases, the airline said.
