Air India and Standard Chartered have announced a partnership that gives eligible clients of the bank in Singapore and the UAE status in the airlineâs Maharaja Club loyalty programme, along with cross-border wealth services, according to an Air India press release.
The offer will be available âin the coming weeks,â the release said, and is aimed at what the companies call âGlobal Indiansâ, people whose lives and business interests span several countries.
Standard Chartered will offer Maharaja Club Gold or Silver status to eligible affluent clients in the two markets, the release said. Air India said Maharaja Club status includes extra baggage allowance, priority check-in and boarding, airport lounge access, upgrade vouchers and bonus Maharaja Points, with benefits increasing from Silver to Gold.
Gold members also receive Star Alliance Gold status, the airline said. It said this gives access to more than 1,000 airport lounges worldwide, priority airport services and extra baggage benefits, and recognition across 25 other Star Alliance member airlines.
Air India customers who bank with Standard Chartered in the UAE or Singapore and meet eligibility criteria will also get a dedicated relationship manager, market outlook insights from the bankâs Chief Investment Office, invitations to events, and tailored wealth solutions for cross-border financial needs, the release said.
Rajesh Kannan, Head of Wealth and Retail Banking for the UAE and Jersey and Head of Global Indian Clients at Standard Chartered, said the deal brings together âtwo trusted heritage brands.â He said it combines Air Indiaâs growing global network with the bankâs international wealth capabilities to offer multi-market travel benefits.
Nipun Aggarwal, Air Indiaâs Chief Commercial Officer, said the airline is focused on âdeepening our engagement with the global Indian community.â He said the partnership lets Air India expand Maharaja Club in key international markets and offers customers immediate access to premium status.
Air India said Maharaja Club has added millions of members since it was redesigned in 2024. Members can earn and redeem points on Air India and Air India Express flights to and from 104 destinations, as well as on 25 other Star Alliance airlines, it said. The programme also has partnerships with more than 100 other brands.
