Applications open for US Embassy's YES exchange programme, deadline Sept 23

The US Embassy in Dhaka has called for applications from Bangladeshi high school students for the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program for the Spring 2027 semester, according to a press release issued by the embassy on September 10 and an announcement posted on its verified Facebook page on Saturday.

The YES Program provides an opportunity for high school students from Bangladesh, aged 15 to 17, to live and study in the United States for one semester, the embassy said.

In a statement attributable to US Mission Spokesperson Poornima Rai, the embassy said the programme builds a network of young leaders who learn firsthand about American culture and principles while sharing their own. Applicants compete for the programme through a rigorous, merit-based selection process, the statement said.

Selected participants will live with a US family, attend an American high school, gain leadership skills, and take part in activities to learn about US excellence in governance, business, and innovation, according to the release.

Since 2004, the embassy said, 530 Bangladeshi students have participated in the YES program.

To apply, visit www.iearnbd.org. The application deadline is Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. (BST).

For further questions, applicants may contact yesinfo@iearnbd.org or the US Embassy at DhakaUSExchanges@State.gov.
