Australian mission warns visa applicants against scams, urges use of ImmiAccount

The Australian High Commission in Bangladesh on Tuesday urged visa applicants to verify their applications through the Australian government’s official immigration portal, ImmiAccount, warning against potential visa fraud and irregularities.

In a notice posted on its verified Facebook page, the Australian High Commission in Bangladesh said all Australian visa applications, including those submitted through migration agents, must be lodged through the Australian government’s official immigration platform, ImmiAccount.

The mission advised applicants to ensure that their migration agents provide them access to their ImmiAccount so they can independently review and verify details related to their visa applications.

According to the notice, applicants should check personal information, including name, date of birth, and passport details; confirm the type of visa applied for; monitor the status of the application; and verify whether biometric instruction letters correspond to the submitted visa category.

Applicants were also encouraged to regularly review messages and updates issued by the Australian government through the platform.

The High Commission emphasized that access to ImmiAccount can help visa seekers protect themselves from scams and ensure transparency throughout the visa application process.

Australia’s diplomatic mission in Dhaka also shared guidance links on how to apply and manage visa applications online and steps applicants should take after submission.

The advisory comes amid growing global concerns over immigration fraud and unauthorized practices by third-party visa agents, particularly affecting students and migration applicants.
