aviation.com.bd to hold country's first workshop on aviation ground operations careers

Aviation platform aviation.com.bd will organise what it describes as Bangladesh's first special workshop dedicated to aviation ground operations, aiming to introduce young people to career opportunities in a segment of the industry that has so far received little attention compared to piloting and cabin crew roles.

The day-long workshop, titled "Introduction to Aviation Ground Operation: Knowledge & Career Path," will be held on Saturday, 26 September, at Bishwo Sahitto Kendro in the capital, running from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Organisers said that while public conversation around aviation careers in Bangladesh tends to centre on pilots and cabin crew, a much larger workforce operates behind the scenes to keep flights running — covering passenger services, baggage and cargo handling, airside operations, safety, and various ground support functions carried out between an aircraft's arrival and departure.

The workshop is designed to introduce participants to these areas, outline the career paths within them, and explain the skills required to enter the sector. The curriculum will include the fundamentals of aviation ground operations, an overview of the wider aviation industry, key ground operation functions, career pathways, and guidance on professional skill development. Participants will also get the chance to interact directly with experienced aviation professionals.

Organisers noted that the ongoing expansion of Bangladesh's aviation infrastructure and airport operations is expected to widen demand for skilled professionals, particularly in ground operations, passenger services, baggage and cargo handling, and airport support services. The workshop, they said, is intended to familiarise young people with these emerging opportunities.

The session will be led by Harunur Rashid, Founder and CEO of aviation.com.bd and former Airport Manager of Air Arabia. Joining as a special speaker will be Misbah Al Ahmed Mazumder, an aviation professional who has worked with several international carriers and logistics firms, including British Airways, Emirates, DHL, Qatar Airways, RAK Airways, SriLankan Airlines and Maldivian. He currently serves as an Advisor to the Bangladesh Aviation Committee.

The participation fee has been set at Tk 2,500, with an early-bird registration fee of Tk 2,000 available until 31 August. Participants will receive certificates upon completion of the workshop.

aviation.com.bd has been running a series of training programmes, workshops and awareness campaigns aimed at building knowledge and skills in aviation and tourism among young people in Bangladesh. The organisation said it plans to continue such initiatives to introduce the next generation to career opportunities in these sectors and help them build the skills needed for the future.
