Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) is seeking to attract more Turkish travellers and investment in tourism infrastructure through closer engagement with Türkiye.
BTB Chief Executive Officer Barrister Mutasim Billah Faruqui discussed the opportunities with Deniz Bulkur, Bangladesh’s Honorary Consul in Konya, Türkiye, at a meeting at the board’s office in Dhaka on Sunday, November 8.
The talks centred on raising Bangladesh’s profile in the Turkish travel market and exploring investment in hotels, resorts and other tourism facilities.
Both sides discussed ways to showcase Bangladesh’s beaches, hills, forests, historical landmarks and archaeological heritage to Turkish travellers and wider international audiences.
Bulkur expressed optimism about encouraging more Turkish visitors to explore Bangladesh, saying there was considerable scope to promote its diverse attractions more effectively in Türkiye.
The meeting also explored opportunities for Turkish investment to support the development of Bangladesh’s tourism industry.
Faruqui said the meeting followed directives from Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat.
Under the guidance of the minister and the ministry’s secretary, BTB is working to expand international promotion, increase foreign tourist arrivals and encourage domestic and overseas investment, he said.
Faruqui also stressed the role of stronger international engagement and cooperation in developing the sector.
Both sides highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Türkiye as a foundation for closer tourism ties. They expressed hope that continued engagement would help raise Bangladesh’s visibility among Turkish travellers and generate greater investment interest.
