Bangladesh, US complete joint aviation security simulator training

Bangladesh's civil aviation authority and the United States Embassy in Dhaka concluded a three-day joint training programme on Wednesday focused on modernising the country's airport security screening capabilities.

The workshop, held at the headquarters of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), ran from April 7 to 9 and centred on SIMFOX Computer-Based Training (CBT) simulator technology—an advanced system used for X-ray screening simulation in aviation security environments.

CAAB's Member for Security, Air Commodore Md Asif Iqbal, presided over the closing ceremony, which was also attended by David Mo, Deputy Political and Economic AttachÊ at the US Embassy in Dhaka.

"This type of modern training programme will play an important role in bringing the country's aviation security system up to international standards," Air Commodore Asif Iqbal said at the ceremony, adding that similar cooperation between CAAB and the US Embassy was expected to continue.

Officers from various levels of CAAB's Aviation Security division participated in the programme, receiving both theoretical instruction on modern X-ray screening technology and hands-on experience through practical simulation exercises.

At the closing ceremony, certificates were awarded to participants, and training-related equipment was formally handed over to CAAB, which officials said would support future training activities.

The programme is being viewed by officials as a significant step forward in strengthening Bangladesh's aviation security infrastructure, with authorities expressing hope that such international collaborative initiatives would expand further in the coming years.
