Biman director faces show-cause over child, wife denial allegations

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has issued a show-cause notice to Mohammad Rashedul Karim, Director of Procurement and Logistic Support, over allegations of denying his wife and child alongside assault charges.

Authorities have given him 96 hours to respond to the notice following serious personal and administrative accusations. Allegations include secretly marrying another man's wife, refusing to acknowledge his spouse and son, and later assaulting his wife with hired muscle while issuing threats.

According to Biman sources, Rashedul Karim married Mosammat Mousumi Akter Lima on January 24 in 2024. Allegations state that Lima was in another marital relationship before being lured away. Marriage was kept secret for extended period.

Despite birth of a son, Rashedul Karim allegedly refused to grant social and legal recognition to his wife and child. When Lima demanded spousal rights, she faced mental pressure, intimidation and threats according to complaint details.

Victim's allegations claim she was told to remain silent through influence when matter became public. Written complaint states she received physical abuse and threats of consequences.

Lima filed written complaint with Biman authorities on 30th November last year. Administration and Human Resources Department deemed matter worthy of investigation after reviewing allegations.

Separate investigations are underway regarding irregularities and corruption charges against the director. Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry ordered scrutiny of these allegations following intelligence agency report. Ministry sent letter to Biman authorities for investigation.

Allegations under investigation include abuse of authority, ticket-related irregularities and exerting administrative influence. Sources confirmed departmental action may be taken if satisfactory response is not provided within stipulated timeframe.

Biman authorities stated allegations are being considered seriously and authenticity will be verified through investigation. Appropriate measures will be taken according to regulations if allegations are proven.
