Biman engineers fix PM's aircraft in Japan

Biman Bangladesh Airlines' engineering team, working in collaboration with Japanese technicians, successfully repaired a technical fault in the aircraft carrying Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his entourage at Narita International Airport in Japan on Thursday.

The repair operation was carried out in the presence of Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat and Biman Bangladesh Airlines' Deputy Managing Director, enabling the national flag carrier's flight BG377 to depart safely for Dhaka after an unexpected delay.

According to a Biman, the aircraft was initially unable to depart from Narita as scheduled due to a technical problem, prompting engineers to undertake immediate corrective measures.

Biman's engineering personnel, assisted by Japanese technicians, successfully completed the necessary repairs before the aircraft was cleared for departure.

Following the completion of the technical work, flight BG377 was pushed back from its parking position at 7:43 pm Bangladesh time and subsequently took off safely for Dhaka at 7:55 pm.

The aircraft was scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka at 3:00 am on October 30.

The flight was carrying the Prime Minister and his entourage following his official visit to Japan from October 26 to 29, during which he held bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and attended engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The technical problem temporarily disrupted the Prime Minister's return journey, but the intervention by Biman's engineering team and Japanese aviation technicians enabled the flight to resume.

The airline did not disclose the specific nature of the technical fault or the total duration of the delay.

The incident highlighted the importance of engineering coordination, technical expertise and aircraft maintenance in ensuring operational safety, particularly during high-profile international flights.

Biman confirmed that the aircraft departed safely following the successful completion of repairs.
