Biman imposes stricter rules for cabin crew, staying outside hotels prohibited

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has tightened rules for its cabin crew during international assignments following recent incidents. According to directives from the Flight Services Department, crew members are now required to stay only in company-approved hotels. Staying at relatives’ homes or any other accommodations is strictly forbidden.

The new guidelines also state that crew must get prior approval from the captain before leaving the hotel premises. Any off-duty travel outside the city requires the captain’s permission, and returning to the hotel by 10:00 PM is now mandatory.

The airline took these steps after incidents involving crew members violating existing rules. One notable case involved Captain Saifuzzaman Guddu, who tragically drowned in Lake Ontario while visiting friends in Canada. In another case, a cabin crew member went missing from a hotel in Toronto, which led to disciplinary action and reassignment to domestic flights.

Biman Airlines has emphasized that these measures are intended to ensure crew discipline, maintain safety, and protect the company’s reputation.
