Biman Bangladesh Airlines has formally requested Boeing to deploy engineers to Bangladesh for a month-long assignment to assist its in-house technical team. The move comes as part of Bimanâs ongoing efforts to address recurring technical issues and enhance aircraft safety and operational reliability.
According to Biman officials, the airline has requested at least two Boeing engineers to work closely with its engineers, providing technical guidance and on-site expertise. Discussions have reportedly taken place with Boeingâs South Asia office in New Delhi, and the deployment is expected soon.
Bimanâs Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Mohammad Safiqur Rahman, emphasized that passenger safety remains the airlineâs top priority. âOur engineering team is fully committed, but the presence of Boeing engineers will help expedite troubleshooting and strengthen our maintenance protocols,â he said.
In parallel, Biman has launched a set of measures to prevent future technical disruptions. A high-level, four-member investigation committee is reviewing all technical incidents from July 1 to August 13, including maintenance records, operational procedures, and accountability. The committee is expected to submit its recommendations within 10 working days.
Immediate steps include investigating specific mechanical faults, implementing personnel adjustments to ensure accountability, and maintaining additional spare tires at key international stations for rapid replacement.
Biman is also updating its inventory management systems, reviewing the Component Services Program (CSP) and Recommended Spare Parts List (RSPL), and reassessing Tailored Part Packages (TPP) to match real-time aircraft needs.
Training and recruitment initiatives are underway to strengthen Bimanâs technical workforce, including onboarding new apprentice mechanics and launching regular skill-enhancement programs for engineers.
The
airline stressed that these combined efforts aim to ensure uninterrupted flight
operations, reinforce passenger confidence, and modernize its technical
capabilities for the long term.
