On Sunday, the newly reconstituted board of Biman Bangladesh Airlines convened for its inaugural full-day meeting at the airline's headquarters in Balaka. The meeting focused on critical operational and strategic matters.
The meeting signified the official commencement of the 13-member board's activities, which were established by a government notification issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism on April 25.
The reconstituted board is headed by Chairman Rumee A. Hossain, Sponsor Director of Bank Asia PLC and chairman of its executive committee.
The board reviewed the airline's financial management, service quality, fleet expansion plans, future strategic roadmap, and enhancement of safety standards during the meeting.
The government also implemented numerous critical policy decisions to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of the national flag carrier, according to an official release.
The government expressed optimism that the new board, which would be composed of professionals from public administration, defense, banking, business, law, and academia, would assist in the transformation of Biman into a modern, self-sufficient, and internationally competitive airline.
