Boarding bridge hits Biman aircraft in Sylhet, London flight delayed

A boarding bridge collided with a London-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet on Tuesday night, causing a delay in the flight’s departure.

According to airport sources, the incident took place early in the morning when the boarding bridge accidentally struck one of the engines of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft (Flight BG-201) during pre-departure procedures.

The flight, which was scheduled to take off from Sylhet to London at 10:35 a.m., was postponed following the accident.

Sylhet Osmani International Airport Director Hafiz Uddin Ahmed confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post. He said, “When the bridge hit the aircraft, the flight’s take-off was immediately suspended. Biman’s engineering department has already started an inspection of the affected aircraft.”

He also said that passengers were being shifted to another aircraft for their journey to London. “The replacement aircraft is expected to depart for London around 2:30 p.m. today,” he added.

No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident, but it caused considerable delay and inconvenience for passengers. Airport authorities have started an internal investigation into how the boarding bridge came into contact with the aircraft.
