Boeing, American helicopter manufacturer, secured a USD 270
crore contract for post-production support services of military's Apache
helicopter fleet, Pentagon announced on Wednesday.
Fixed-price contract was awarded to Boeing as sole bidder.
This adds to a separate USD 470 crore deal granted in November 2025 for
building new Apache AH-64E attack helicopters, Longbow crew trainers and
accessories.
Apache helicopters form integral part of US Army's fleet.
Existing AH-64 helicopters have accumulated over 53 lakh flight hours
throughout their lifetime, including more than 13 lakh combat operations,
according to Aerotime. Currently, over 1,300 Apache aircraft operate across 19
countries.
Manufacturing of new AH-64E fleet will continue through next
decade. Aircraft are expected to remain operational beyond 2060, with lifetime
exceeding 30 years.
Apache helicopter demonstrated capabilities during South
Carolina Army National Guard exercise in August 2025. AH-64E successfully
detected, tracked and destroyed several unmanned aircraft systems during tests.
Boeing describes AH-64 Apache as world's most advanced and
proven attack helicopter. Since inception in 1984 as AH-64A, helicopter evolved
into current AH-64E variant while maintaining reputation among global
militaries.
Aircraft serves 18 countries including Australia, Egypt,
Greece, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Morocco,
Netherlands, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, United
Kingdom and United States. Open systems approach and proven track record ensure
continued operation with key militaries worldwide.
