CCC Mayor pledges to transform Patenga sea beach into international standard tourism hub

Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain of the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has pledged to transform Patenga Sea Beach into a tourism destination of international standards by implementing strategic management, enhancing security, and providing state-of-the-art visitor amenities.

On Saturday, Shahadat delivered the remarks at a meeting of the Chattogram Beach Management Committee that was conducted in the conference room of the Chattogram Circuit House.

The meeting focused on ensuring proper management and tourism development of the district's sea beaches, including Patenga and Parki Beach.

In his address to the meeting, the mayor underscored the necessity of upholding order at Patenga Sea Beach in order to enhance its accessibility and appeal to the general public. He suggested the appointment of ten Ansar members to assist in the monitoring of the area and the preservation of order.

In addition, Dr. Shahadat Hossain observed that magistrates under his direct supervision have already been employed to eliminate illegal encroachments from the beach.

The mayor underscored the importance of natural beauty preservation at the beach, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection. He suggested that shops be constructed in a strategic manner to preserve the scenic environment and ensure the convenience of tourists.

The proposal allows for the establishment of 280 shops at the beach; however, they must be designed in a manner that does not impede the movement of visitors or cause harm to the natural landscape. Additionally, he underscored the importance of tourists being able to purchase essential items at reasonable prices.

In an effort to guarantee the beach's effective management, the mayor urged the City Corporation, District Administration, Chattogram Development Authority (CDA), Tourist Police, tourism-related groups, law enforcement agencies, and local residents to establish a coordinated effort.

He expressed optimism that Patenga Sea Beach could be transformed into a safe, clean, and internationally recognized tourist destination through collaborative endeavors.

Presiding over the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah stressed the importance of adopting a well-planned and long-term strategy to upgrade Patenga Beach to international standards. He underscored the necessity of ensuring the safety of tourists, the provision of modern entertainment facilities, and the enhancement of infrastructure.

Among others, the program was attended by officials from the administration and law enforcement agencies.
