Direct Incheon-Dhaka flights resume after long gap

Over 40 thousand Bangladeshi expatriates living in South Korea can now travel home more easily as direct flights between Incheon and Dhaka have resumed after years of hiatus.

Asia Pacific Aviation launched its inaugural flight on November 17, carrying approximately 250 passengers to Dhaka. Starting next month, airline will operate four scheduled flights monthly on the route.

Bangladeshi migrant workers, many arriving through South Korea's Employment Permit System (EPS), previously relied on transit flights for their journeys home. Initiative to restart direct service came from expatriate communities themselves, aiming to eliminate long layovers and travel complications.

"After a long time, direct flight has restarted, and we are very happy. I hope airline will provide good service without schedule disruptions," one expatriate told media. Another worker expressed optimism, saying this marks "our first flight for Bangladeshi expatriates" and hoping service continues for easier travel.

Direct route will also serve Korean citizens working on Bangladesh's mega-projects, facilitating smoother movement between the two nations. Officials believe improved connectivity will strengthen ties between friendly countries whilst boosting business, trade, and investment opportunities.

South Korea remains an important destination for Bangladeshi workers seeking overseas employment. These remittance earners contribute significantly to Bangladesh's economy, sending money home to support families and national development. Direct flights save both time and money, allowing workers to maximise their brief visits home during leave periods.
