Emirates expands Accra service with four additional weekly flights

Emirates said Tuesday it has launched four additional weekly flights between Dubai and Accra, increasing its operations to the Ghanaian capital to 11 services per week in response to growing demand for international travel and connectivity.

In a press release, the Dubai-based airline said flight EK789 landed at Accra International Airport for the first time over the weekend, marking the start of the expanded schedule. The new flights operate every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, complementing the carrier's existing daily service.

Emirates said the additional frequencies introduce an early morning arrival in Accra, designed to improve connections for passengers travelling from major markets including India, the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany. Outbound services from Accra are timed to provide convenient onward connections through Dubai to destinations across Asia, Australia, the United States and Saudi Arabia.

"The arrival of this additional service reaffirms our long-term commitment to Ghana, a market that has played an important role in Emirates' African network for more than two decades," said Salem Almana, Emirates' Country Manager for Ghana.

"As travel demand continues to grow, we are pleased to offer our customers greater flexibility and more choice, underpinned by Emirates' world-renowned inflight experience and hospitality," he added.

Emirates has served Ghana since 2004, using its Dubai hub to connect the West African nation with destinations across its global network. The airline said its services have supported tourism, facilitated business travel and strengthened trade links between Ghana and international markets.

Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited, welcomed the expansion, describing it as evidence of growing demand for international connectivity and confidence in Ghana's aviation sector.

"The introduction of Emirates' additional Dubai–Accra service is a strong endorsement of Ghana's growing aviation sector and the increasing demand for international connectivity," she said, adding that the airport operator would continue working with the airline to strengthen connectivity and enhance the passenger experience.

The additional flights are operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft configured with eight First Class suites, 42 Business Class lie-flat seats and 304 Economy Class seats.

The expanded schedule is expected to provide travellers with greater flexibility while strengthening Accra's links to Emirates' global network of destinations via Dubai, supporting both passenger travel and broader economic connectivity between Ghana and international markets.
