Emirates serves up Oktoberfest on Germany flights

Emirates has launched a seasonal Oktoberfest menu on its flights between Dubai and four German cities, and in its lounges at the four German airports, the airline said in a statement.

The offering runs from Sept 19 to Oct 4 on flights between Dubai and Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg and is available in all cabin classes.

The airline said the dishes will be served for lunch and dinner on its three daily Dubai-Frankfurt flights, as well as on its two daily services each to Munich, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg. Oktoberfest is the annual beer festival held in Munich, in Germany's southern state of Bavaria.

In First Class, the menu includes beef consommé with marrow dumplings, duck liver terrine, and sauerbraten, a traditional German braised beef dish, the airline said. Other options include spiced roast chicken with potato pavé and desserts such as Kaiserschmarrn, a shredded pancake, or apple strudel.

Business Class passengers can choose braised beef short ribs or beef cheeks, followed by baked cheesecake or apple strudel. In Premium Economy, the menu includes braised beef cheeks with Bavarian accompaniments.

Economy Class passengers can order chicken bratwurst in puff pastry with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, or chicken in a paprika cream sauce. Black Forest cake will be served on selected flights.

First Class passengers travelling from Dubai to Germany will also receive a decorated gingerbread heart before landing. On the return leg, they will get an Oktoberfest movie snack of smoked turkey, beef salami, cheeses, and mini pretzels, among other items.

The A380 Onboard Lounge will offer buttered pretzels, sandwiches, and Bavarian sweets, including plum cake, German cheesecake, and doughnuts, the airline said.

Emirates Lounges in Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg will also serve seasonal food and drink over the same period. The Hamburg lounge will offer Oktoberfest beer, smoked trout fillet on potato salad and Backhendl, a Bavarian fried chicken dish, and will be decorated for the season.

The lounges in the other three cities will serve braised beef cheeks with potato dumplings, potato noodles with sauerkraut, and chocolate-coated fruit.
