Etihad Airways launches 'Etihad Wellbeing' programme to enhance passenger comfort

Etihad Airways, the United Arab Emirates' national carrier, has launched a new initiative called Etihad Wellbeing, bringing together a range of product and service upgrades aimed at helping passengers travel more comfortably and arrive at their destinations feeling rested, the airline announced Wednesday.

The programme, unveiled on the airline's official website, consolidates several existing and new offerings across Etihad's cabins, lounges and inflight entertainment system under a single wellness-focused brand. It is designed to support passengers who want to maintain healthy routines while travelling, the airline said.

Jyotsna Chowdhry, Vice President of Product and Hospitality at Etihad Airways, said research indicates that frequent flyers are increasingly seeking ways to stay healthy during travel, and described the new programme as the airline's effort to make flying more restorative. She said the initiative brings together a series of practical upgrades across the airline's cabins and services meant to help travellers rest and arrive refreshed, and that the enhancements draw on the spirit of Emirati hospitality to create a more thoughtful onboard experience.

The Etihad Wellbeing programme spans multiple touchpoints of the travel journey, according to the announcement. At Zayed International Airport, guests in the Etihad Lounges can access dedicated quiet zones and pre-departure spa treatments through the Be Relax by Etihad Spa service, which offers skincare, massage and hair treatments.

Onboard, the airline said it has expanded its dining menu with nutritious and protein-rich dishes, plant-based options, and specialist meals catering to lactose-free, low-sodium, low-fat, low-salt and gluten-free dietary needs. Passengers can also access hydrating beverages enriched with vitamins and electrolytes during flights.

In its premium cabins, Etihad said First and The Residence passengers will be offered natural cotton bedding, memory foam mattresses and premium sleepwear. Business Class travellers will receive newly introduced Destination Collection amenity kits featuring products from South Korean skincare brand LANEIGE, including a water sleeping mask, lip sleeping mask and hand cream. Etihad said it is the first airline to partner with the brand and currently the only carrier offering its products onboard. First Class passengers will also receive skincare items from ESPA, including facial sheet masks and under-eye masks.

The airline has also introduced a new signature fragrance for use onboard and in its lounges, which it said was designed exclusively for Etihad to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere.

Other elements of the programme include the airline's existing Quiet Cabin initiative, which limits non-essential announcements to maintain a calmer cabin environment, as well as meditation, stretching and sleep-focused content available through Etihad's inflight entertainment system. The airline noted that lighting on many of its aircraft has also been designed to support rest and reduce jet lag on long-haul routes.

Etihad said the Wellbeing programme would continue to expand with further enhancements as the airline develops additional offerings for passengers.
