Etihad launches first-ever route to Uzbekistan with sold-out flight

Etihad Airways marked the arrival of its inaugural flight to Tashkent on Monday, launching the UAE national carrier's first-ever route to Uzbekistan and opening a new daily link between Abu Dhabi and Central Asia, the airline said in a statement.
The new non-stop service connects Abu Dhabi with Tashkent daily, giving travellers from Uzbekistan onward access to Etihad's wider network across the GCC, Europe, the Levant, and North America. The airline said the route aims to strengthen Abu Dhabi's position as a global connecting hub between East and West.
The launch builds on a codeshare partnership Etihad recently signed with Uzbekistan Airways, which allows passengers to connect beyond Tashkent to eight further Uzbek citiesâAndijan, Bukhara, Fergana, Namangan, Nukus, Samarkand, Termez, and Urgenchâas well as select international points on the Uzbekistan Airways network.
Speaking at the launch event, Etihad Airways Chief Digital Officer Frank Meyer said the inaugural flight was a proud moment for the airline and an important milestone in its network expansion. He described Uzbekistan as one of Central Asia's most dynamic and fast-growing markets, citing its cultural heritage, tourism appeal, and rising economic significance. Meyer added that the daily non-stop service opened a new gateway between Central Asia and the world, giving travellers seamless onward connections through Abu Dhabi.
According to Etihad, the route is aimed at meeting rising travel demand between Uzbekistan, the UAE, and other key markets and is expected to support stronger tourism and business links in both directions. The airline said the inaugural flight had sold out ahead of departure.
Under the current schedule running through September 1, flight EY830 departs Abu Dhabi at 20:35 and arrives in Tashkent at 02:05 the next day, while the return flight EY831 departs Tashkent at 03:25 and lands in Abu Dhabi at 06:55. From September 1, departure and arrival times shift slightly earlier. Both routes are operated daily using an Airbus A320.
