Expatriates’ Welfare minister off to Malaysia tomorrow for labour talks

Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury is set to leave Dhaka for Malaysia tomorrow to advance discussions on the Southeast Asian country’s labour market, according to ministry sources.

The minister will be accompanied by the Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin during the visit, the sources said.

They are scheduled to leave Dhaka for Malaysia at around 9 pm tomorrow.

This will be the minister’s third visit to Malaysia as part of ongoing efforts to move forward discussions related to the recruitment and employment of Bangladeshi workers in the Malaysian labour market.

A ministry source said a four-member delegation, including the minister and the adviser, is expected to take part in the visit.

Meanwhile, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Md Mokhtar Ahmed may also be in Malaysia during the visit, another source said.

Although the ministry has yet to make any official announcement regarding the visit, multiple sources concerned have confirmed the minister’s scheduled trip.
