County commissioners in Palm Beach County have voted to rename Palm Beach International Airport after Donald Trump, following approval of the move by state authorities.
In a 4–3 vote on Tuesday, commissioners approved a naming rights and licensing agreement with a company affiliated with the Trump Organization that would change the airport’s name to “President Donald J. Trump International Airport.”
The decision follows legislation signed into law in March by Ron DeSantis, authorising the renaming but requiring local approval of a trademark agreement tied to Trump’s business interests.
Under the agreement, the county will receive a permanent, royalty-free licence to use the new name across signage, advertising, marketing, merchandise and other branding related to airport operations.
However, the change still requires final approval from the Federal Aviation Administration, which oversees airport naming and designation in the United States. If approved, the new name is expected to take effect by July 1, 2026.
The company that manages Trump’s trademarks, DTTM Operations LLC, applied for the trademarks for “Donald J. Trump International Airport” and “President Donald J. Trump International Airport” in February. The latter name is what appears in the proposed new logo for the airport.
