Dubai-based carrier flydubai is taking part in the first Syria Travel Show (STS) 2026, being held in Damascus from September 28 to 30, the airline said in a press release.

Syria's Ministry of Tourism is patronizing the event. It brings together travel professionals, tourism authorities, aviation and hospitality leaders, investors and cultural institutions to explore business opportunities across the country's travel, tourism and hospitality sectors, according to the release.

flydubai said its participation reflects its long-standing commitment to the Syrian market and its role in supporting the country's trade and tourism ambitions by improving links to Dubai and other destinations on its network.

"Syria represents a key strategic market for flydubai, and our participation in the first Syria Travel Show reflects our commitment to supporting the country's growing connectivity and long-term development," said Hamad Obaidalla, the airline's Chief Commercial Officer.

He said the expanded services to Damascus and Aleppo, which he described as two of the fastest-growing routes in flydubai's network, bring the Syrian community in the UAE and the wider region closer to family, friends and business opportunities. "We look forward to working with our partners across Syria's travel and tourism industry to support its continued recovery as the country reopens to the world," he added.

flydubai became the first UAE airline to resume direct flights to Damascus in June 2025, with a daily service between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Damascus International Airport (DAM). It has since raised the frequency to three daily flights, citing sustained demand for travel between the two countries.

In July 2026, the airline launched daily non-stop flights between DXB and Aleppo International Airport (ALP), returning to the city after nearly 14 years. Through Dubai, the two routes connect Syria to more than 125 destinations across flydubai's network, the airline said.

The Syria Travel Show is being held as Syria's tourism sector continues to show signs of recovery, supported by a gradual increase in visitor numbers over the past year, according to the release. The event serves as a platform for business networking and strategic partnerships.

flydubai began operations in June 2009 and serves more than 125 destinations in 56 countries. It operates a fleet of 98 Boeing 737 aircraft and says it has carried more than 137 million passengers.
