Consular and visa services suspended; affects pending visa applications
German Embassy in Dhaka will remain closed on Wednesday and
Thursday, 24th and 25th December, with no services available during this
period.
Embassy announced the closure on Monday, citing Christmas holidays. Operations will resume on December 28 (Sunday) after the
extended break.
Christmas Day falls on Thursday. This festival is a major religious celebration for Christian
communities worldwide. Bangladesh observes December 25 as a public holiday.
Embassy clarified that December 26-27 are also
government holidays following Christmas. This creates a five-day closure period
for consular operations from December 24-27.
Applicants requiring consular or visa-related services have
been advised to plan accordingly and contact the embassy in advance. Embassy
urged those with urgent matters to schedule appointments before the holiday
period begins.
Normal services, including visa processing, passport
applications and other consular assistance, will be suspended during the closure.
Embassy staff will not be available for routine inquiries or emergency services
on these days.
German Embassy typically handles significant visa
applications from Bangladeshi citizens seeking travel to Germany for education,
employment and tourism purposes. December remains a busy period for visa
services due to year-end travel plans.
Dhaka-based diplomatic missions often adjust schedules
during major religious and cultural festivals. Christmas closure aligns with
similar practices observed by other European embassies in Bangladesh.
Applicants with pending applications or scheduled
appointments during the closure period should contact embassy offices before
December 23 to reschedule or obtain necessary information.
