Global financial technology company LemFi has appointed British-Bangladeshi fintech professional, business consultant and media entrepreneur Shah Yousuf as Head of Bangladesh to lead the company's Bangladesh corridor across its international markets, underscoring its commitment to one of the world's largest remittance destinations.
The appointment comes as LemFi continues its global expansion. The company recently announced London as its global headquarters and pledged to invest £100 million in the UK over the next five years. It currently serves more than 2 million customers across over 30 countries and processes more than US$1 billion in monthly payment transactions.
Originally launched as a digital remittance platform, LemFi has evolved into a broader financial services platform designed for migrant communities. In addition to international money transfers, the company now offers multi-currency accounts, savings and credit products, its Send Now, Pay Later (SNPL) service, credit monitoring and, following its acquisition of Wealth8, investment and wealth management solutions.
LemFi said its long-term goal is to become the preferred financial platform for migrants by helping them manage, grow and access their finances regardless of where they live.
Bangladesh remains one of the world's largest recipients of remittances, with millions of expatriate Bangladeshis sending billions of pounds back home each year. Recognizing the country's strategic importance, LemFi aims to strengthen its Bangladesh corridor by offering secure, accessible and innovative financial services while building long-term trust among Bangladeshi communities worldwide.
As Head of Bangladesh, Shah will oversee the company's Bangladesh corridor across its global sending markets. His responsibilities will include developing market strategy, driving commercial growth, building strategic partnerships and strengthening community engagement across the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and other countries with significant Bangladeshi diaspora populations. He will also contribute to LemFi's broader South Asia strategy.
Although widely known through his involvement with London Bangla, LB24 and VodTalk, Shah has spent much of his professional career in fintech and business consulting. His expertise includes market expansion, commercial strategy, strategic partnerships and community engagement.
Before joining LemFi, he spent five years helping expand digital financial services for the Bangladeshi community. Working with community organizations, media partners, ambassadors, influencers and small businesses, he played a key role in promoting secure and convenient cross-border payment solutions and supporting the adoption of digital financial services among overseas Bangladeshis.
Commenting on his appointment, Shah said it was a privilege to join LemFi at a pivotal stage of its growth.
"Over the past five years, I have had the opportunity to help grow digital financial services for the Bangladeshi community and build trusted relationships across the market. Joining LemFi gives me the opportunity to build on that experience on a much broader international scale," he said.
"Throughout my career, whether in media, business or fintech, my focus has always been on creating meaningful value for people and building relationships based on trust. I look forward to working with colleagues, partners and communities around the world to strengthen the Bangladesh corridor, support the wider South Asian market and help more migrant families benefit from modern, secure and accessible financial services."
LemFi said Shah's appointment reflects its continued investment in experienced leadership as it expands globally. The company expects his experience in fintech, commercial strategy, business development and community engagement to accelerate the growth of its Bangladesh corridor while advancing its broader ambition of becoming the leading financial platform for migrant communities worldwide.
