Govt gives 15-day ultimatum to Travel Agencies

The government has issued a 15-day ultimatum to travel agencies operating without valid licences, warning of strict legal action if registrations are not renewed within the deadline.

In a directive, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism said operating without a valid or renewed registration certificate is illegal under the Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) Act, 2013, its 2021 amendment, and the Rules, 2022.

Officials said a number of agencies have continued operations despite expired licences, depriving the government of revenue and raising concerns over regulatory compliance in the sector.

All individuals and entities engaged in travel agency business with expired registrations have been asked to urgently apply for renewal through the government’s online Travel Agency Management System.

The ministry made it clear that enforcement action will begin immediately after the 15-working-day deadline, targeting unauthorised operators across the country.
